Hi — I'm Robert Stuart-Thompson.I grew up in Johannesburg, moved to Cape Town two years ago, and now live in Durbanville. My background is primarily in education, but I've since moved into software development. I hold a PGDip in Enterprise Management from Rhodes Business School.izidanga came from two frustrations. First, Cape Town has hundreds of restaurants and bakeries running great daily specials, and nowhere clean to find them — Instagram is fragmented, websites are out of date, word-of-mouth is hit-and-miss. Second, it never made sense to me that venues discard edible stock at the end of every shift when Capetonians nearby would happily claim it at a reduced price.I'm building izidanga to be the place Capetonians open when they want to eat well, pay fairly, and waste less tonight.The name izidanga is borrowed from the isiXhosa beadwork tradition — a traditional necklace of meaning and connection — chosen with respect for Cape Town's cultural heritage.I work directly with every Founding Partner. Is izidanga free for restaurants?
Yes — completely free during the Founding Partner period. No setup fees, no monthly subscriptions, no per-claim commissions. We may introduce optional paid featured-placement options later (for example, sponsored map placement in a specific suburb during specific hours), but baseline listing access remains free for Founding Partners.
When does the app launch?
August 2026 in Cape Town, with iOS and Android releases simultaneously. Founding Partner restaurants are being onboarded right now and will be live in the app from day one of the public launch.
How is izidanga different from Uber Eats or Mr D?
izidanga is not a food delivery app. We don't take orders, don't deliver food, and don't compete with any delivery platform. izidanga is a map of restaurant specials designed to drive walk-in and dine-in business — the opposite of what delivery apps do. We're a discovery tool for going out to eat, not for ordering in.
How do I know this isn't a scam?
Fair question — Cape Town restaurant owners get pitched scams regularly. A few proof points:- izidanga is a real, registered business with a real founder (see "Who is behind izidanga" above).
- Communication happens via a verified business email ([email protected]) and a registered WhatsApp Business number.
- The Founding Partner application form goes through a confirmed Google account.
- The app launches in August 2026 with a public iOS and Android release you can verify on launch day.
- We never request payment from restaurants. No contracts, no upfront fees, no monthly bills.If you want to verify further before applying, message me directly via WhatsApp or email — we can have a video call or meet in person before you commit anything.

How long does the Founding Partner application take?
5–7 minutes to fill in the form. I follow up via WhatsApp within 48 hours to confirm details and let you know your go-live date. From application to live-on-map is typically under a week.
Will izidanga charge me later?
Baseline listing access stays free for Founding Partners forever — that's the promise. We may introduce optional paid features in the future (eg: sponsored placement, featured-deal slots), but these will always be opt-in, and Founding Partners get first access to anything we launch, with priority pricing.
What about this food-waste angle I've heard about?
A big part of izidanga is helping restaurants, delis, and bakeries move surplus stock that would otherwise be discarded — bread that won't survive overnight, ingredients close to spoiling, end-of-evening clearance dishes. If you have stock that won't make tomorrow, you can WhatsApp me directly with a same-day clearance special and I can usually have it live on the map within an hour. Founding Partners have direct access to this channel from day one.
